Fed: Aust aid team to move into dangerous Mosul area

World Vision Australia workers have been given responsibility to supply the still-dangerousNineveh-Mosul region of northern Iraq.

An assessment team is hoping to fly into the region on Sunday or Monday to judge whetherit's safe to begin moving aid.

World Vision Australia chief executive LYNNE ARNOLD says the agency has aid truckson the Iraq-Syria and Iraq-Jordan borders waiting for approval to enter Mosul.

He says the main supplies aboard are water, water purifiers, foodstuffs and clothing.

The Nineveh-Mosul region has a population of about three million people.

Only limited areas of Mosul itself are under coalition control, and it's currentlytoo unsafe to enter.
