Fanning flame

Flame, a band of 11 mentally and physically disabled musicians, has released its first CD and scheduled a CD-release party next week in Colonie.

Formed in 2003 at Lexington Center in Johnstown, Flame has performed throughout New York and from Maine to Washington, D.C. Its CD ``All for a Reason'' contains 12 of its most popular covers, such as ``Summertime,'' ``Soul Man'' and ``Another Brick in the Wall,'' and one original, the moving ``All for a Reason.''

Fronted by the robust singer Michelle King, Flame will perform at a CD-release party and dinner-dance Oct. 7 at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center. The band has plans for two more CDs, one of holiday songs, the other of originals.
