QLD: Dr charged over pregnant woman murder seeks bail
BRISBANE, Dec 22 AAP - A doctor charged with murdering a pregnant patient and drugging
and molesting a string of others, will apply for bail on Christmas Eve.
The 37-year-old general practitioner, who can't be identified for legal reasons, is
charged with murdering Yuen Ling Chan between January 24 and February 1,1997.
He is also facing five counts of administering a stupifying drug to commit an offence
and six of indecent assault.
The sex and drug offences allegedly involved seven women patients and occurred at his
surgery in an inner southern Brisbane suburb between September 8, 1993 and July 6, 1998.
His solictor Stuart Bale successfully applied for an adjournment until Friday.
He told the Supreme Court Justice John Muir the bail application, which would be the
doctor's second, was brought on by a "change of circumstances".
